Boba Chronicles: Boba Time

Boba Chronicles: Boba Time

Boba stores around our campus clearly don't believe in making quality drinks. They encompass everything from tasteless, watery milk tea, non-fresh ingredients, overcooked boba, and terrible customer service.

In order to find good boba, we have to hop in a car and travel some 13 miles out into Monterey Park. My favorite place is Half & Half Tea House - honey, grass jelly, and green bean with boba. It's a boba connoisseur's delight!

Yesterday, I decided to get boba during my one hour dinner break from work. It was not enough time to drive to Monterey Park so I experimented with another boba shop a little closer to home.

If you can overlook the sloth-like traffic on Vermont Ave and the lack of parking in front of the store, Boba Time is not a bad alternative to the elite boba shops in Monterey Park. It's not the same caliber drinks as Half & Half, but it isn't terrible either.

I ordered the red bean smoothie with boba (yes, I have very Asian taste buds!). To my surprise, they blended actual red beans into the smoothie, as opposed to using red bean powder. Their boba was sufficiently chewy and their service was prompt. If you are craving boba in the Los Angeles area but don't want to drive all the way out to Monterey Park, I would recommend trying this place!
